Though allegiance to the King (& His ways) may bring scorn, thank you for expressing godly grief & weeping with those weep... And for good will in midst of the partisanship that distorts loyalties and hinders our witness + ability to love. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
I have something along these lines in my drafts, but after reading this, I see no need to publish my version! This was so good, loving, thoughtful, and timely. Thank you for writing this, I’m sharing it with everyone I know whose spirit is downcast ❤️
I know the time might have passed, but your words and thoughts can also bring wisdom, insight, and comfort in ways I cannot. Looking forward to reading more posts from ya!
Cheers Greg. Maybe you and I have different groups of friends and congregants to tend to. But there are some in my neck of the woods who need pastoral counseling and care after the Trump win and that’s totally reasonable.
And if you are going to claim this is not a good message I’d be open to hear why. Otherwise, please keep unhelpful comments to yourself.
Hi Mr Watson. I don’t really believe your comment came out with the intent you had? I agree comforting the sick and those in mourning are universally a priority, so perhaps you wanted to highlight that? I don’t think however, Pastor Young necessarily conveyed a poor message. Pardon if mistaken, but it seems you feel in addressing those disappointed in the election outcome, Young’s message ignores the aforementioned sick/mourning and alienates the Trump supporters, thereby your claim of “not a good message” resting on the concept of an omission/exclusionary nature. I believe we ought to allow Pastor Young the grace to address concerns he notices at the level of his direct community, as well as opportunity to address the Trump supporters he alluded to writing about in his next post. If we take as unbiased of a lens as possible, both sides have not really been very merciful to the other side’s rationale, myself included.
Agreed, and those in positions of greater visibility will endure greater scrutiny under the very ethos you profess, which can account for the trepidation certain individuals have regarding anticipated leadership. This is why Christ even admonished us to pray individually in a closet, because it’s not about how one loudly professes in verbiage alone, or how emphatically one waves around a Bible (for sale I might add), since those are acts of worship that can be replicated. One’s natural conduct is what is most observed but also the most misunderstood, so these acts are very much open-season for judgement, but this must certainly be tempered with wisdom and grace, not exclusive of emotional factors as well.
Thank you, Young. Even when it feels the poor, marginalized, and oppressed could be so vulnerable, to trust God is still sovereign and just and omniscient is a way we can depend on Him and not our own understanding.

The good doctor has spoken!
Thank you for the love and encouragement :)
Peacemaking is one of the several things we can try to do on this side of glory...thankful for you, doctor J!
PS. Thank you for the paid sub as well ... that means way more than you know!!!

I appreciate you with these words, Dre!

Huh? Trump’s victory requires pastoral grief counseling. This is not a good message. Comfort those who are sick or have lost a loved one.

Thanks brother!
And a good day to you, Brother Young.
You as well Greg.

Thanks for this comment, Hugh :)
I always appreciate the love and support you provide.
Also, the nuance you are able to have and articulate both in written word and in speech.
Thanks. But I’m comfortable with my comment.
Keep comments to myself? Yeah. Your congregants have no doubt been far less charitable to Trump supporters.
For everyone wants to be more Christ-like, please pray for healing and reconciliation and love for this nation and your neighbors.
Well said.
Thank you for this Biblical reminder!
Everyone who wants to be more Christ-like should obey His commandments and endure sound doctrine.
I literally wrote before, “And if you are going to claim this is not a good message I’d be open to hear why.” I guess you missed that part.
Still open to hearing your reasoning, Greg! Cheers buddy.
