You may have fallen, messed up, or find yourself in a depressed state. If that’s you, hold onto these words - Your Story is Not Over.
For many years, I was stuck in trauma, disappointment, and depression. I was disappointed in myself, in life, and a few others who I dearly loved. I remember the times when I would look out into the world and just feel numb to the beauty all around me. It was as if I was walking through dark clouds rather than just being under them. Life was foggy, damp, and gray. I believed in the lie that my best years had already passed and that God had finished writing my story. This is simply not true and as I began to process all of my hurts through the lens of His love, I now see that there’s so much more life to live.
Our stories are simply part of God’s great redemptive story. This truth alone brings hope that we can live in alignment with something so much bigger than just ourselves. We are not defined by success or failure. We are not defined by wealth or poverty. We are not defined by external factors. We are defined by Christ. This goes beyond our feelings and into the realm of faith.
Today, I want to remind you that your identity is so much more than what you do. You are a child of God in Jesus Christ.
Don’t.
Give.
Up.
A child of God has access, favor, blessing, protection and strength from the Most High. Walk in confidence today that God’s got your back. You are loved. You are valued. You are seen. You belong. Scripture promises us that God will never leave you, nor forsake you.
I encourage you to not let yesterday lead your today or your tomorrow. Choose faith over fear and live in your present story. We are children of God not because of what we do, but simply because we believe in the power of the cross and Jesus Christ’s resurrection. When we remember that our identity is in Christ, our true potential rises to the surface and is no longer held back by any strongholds of fear.
I once heard, “feelings are like the weather, the changes come and go.” Although you may be walking through dark clouds, hang in there because they will eventually pass and you will soon feel the sun hitting your skin once again. The truth is… you are not your mistakes and this is not the end of your story. God wants to do more in you and through you. If you still have breath in your lungs, it is evidence that His mercies for your life are still new every single morning.
(Psalm 37:23-24) - “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand.”
Place your disappointments, failures, insecurities, and fears into the hands of God. Furthermore, place your successes, achievements, and joy into His hands as well. He’s worthy of it all. Ask him for more of His grace and mercy over your life and remember that He is a Good Father who is good to His children.
